Privacy Policy

Families trust us with information about the people they love. We take that seriously, collect as little as we can, and explain plainly what we do with it.

Draft. This page reflects how Senestro works today, while we prepare to launch with our waitlist. It is pending legal review and will be updated before paid services open.

Who we are

Senestro ([Legal business name to be confirmed]) is based in Ontario, Canada. We are responsible for personal information under our control and follow Canada's federal private-sector privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Our Privacy Officer can be reached at privacy@senestro.ca or by mail at [Mailing address to be confirmed].

What this policy covers

This policy covers our website and our launch waitlist. Before we open the Family Support Map and paid services, we will update it to explain the additional information those services use, and we'll tell you about the change.

Information we collect

  • When you join the waitlist: your email address, your first name if you choose to share it, and a record of your consent (the wording you agreed to, the page, and the date and time).
  • When you email us: your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
  • Website visits: anonymous, combined statistics such as pages viewed, the type of device and the country of the visit. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and these statistics don't identify you.
  • Error reports: technical details when something on the website goes wrong, so we can fix it. We remove names, email addresses, IP addresses and anything typed into forms before these reports are sent.
  • Security logs: our hosting provider briefly records technical information such as IP addresses to keep the website secure and running.

How we use it

  • To let you know when Senestro launches and send your founding-family offer.
  • To send occasional updates you have agreed to receive.
  • To answer your questions.
  • To keep our website secure, working properly and easy to use.
  • To keep the records Canadian law requires, such as proof of consent for emails.

We never sell your personal information, and we never share it with advertisers.

Your consent, and changing your mind

We only email you about Senestro if you tick the consent box on our waitlist. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any of our emails, or by writing to privacy@senestro.ca. Unsubscribing takes effect right away.

Who helps us run Senestro

We use a small number of trusted service providers. They may only use your information to provide their service to us, and must protect it.

  • Supabase stores our database. Our database is located in Canada (Montréal).
  • Vercel hosts our website (United States).
  • Resend delivers our emails (United States).
  • Sentry receives error reports with personal details removed (United States).
  • Google Workspace provides our business email.
  • Cloudflare protects connections to our database while information is in transit.

Where your information is kept

Our database is in Canada. Some of the service providers above process information in the United States or elsewhere, where it may be subject to the laws of those countries, including lawful access by authorities there.

How long we keep it

  • Waitlist details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until 24 months after we launch if you never become a customer, whichever comes first.
  • Records of consent and unsubscribes are kept for three years after they change, so we can show that we followed Canada's anti-spam law.
  • Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to help you.

How we protect it

Information is encrypted while it travels and while it's stored. Access is limited to the people who need it, administrator accounts require two-step verification, and administrator actions are recorded.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to privacy@senestro.ca. We'll respond within 30 days. If you have a concern we haven't resolved, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our practices change and change the date below. If a change is significant, we'll tell waitlist members by email.
